The Leaf Claws Story
A Minnesota home owner was tired of wasting the entire day with the tedious task of raking and then bagging leaves. He quickly became sore from constantly bending over to grab and dispose the leaves into the bag. "Our hands are the greatest tools, but they lack the coverage area to grab any large amount of leaves," said Robert Seemann, inventor of the Leaf Claws. "Many of us have tried to use the hand-against-the-rake technique to gather up leaves with only to be hit in the head by the rake handle."
Then, the idea came to him. Why not make a hand tool out of the rake head? So, he did. In his garage, he started with two basic rakes. Robert cut the handles off and found a way to secure his hand to the back of the rake head. His prototype worked like a dream. He found that he could bag an average leaf pile in 30-40 seconds. Thus, he literally cut his leaf bagging time in half.
Seeing that many of his friends and neighbors loved his invention and requested a pair for their own leaf bagging and yard clean up needs, Robert realized he had a new tool other home owners would want and could benefit from. After extensive research, Robert couldn't find his Leaf Claws yard tool in the stores nor on the Web.
"I guess sometimes the simplest ideas are often the most over looked," said Robert. He decided to bring his promising idea to a product engineer, and his prototype has evolved to the current model.
On September 1, 2010, the Leaf Claws leaf bagging and yard clean up tool will become available for purchase. Robert wants to start small with online sales and see where the journey takes him. The dream is that one day many home owners across America and Canada will be enjoying the benefits of his invention, so they can do more of the things that they like, instead of wasting the entire day bagging leaves.
"There's always a better way of doing things. I happened to find it for bagging leaves," said Robert.
